National Minority Quality Forum Statement on Medicare Today’s Medicare Part D Satisfaction Survey

Washington D.C. (September 23, 2013) — Dr. Gary A. Puckrein, President and CEO of the National Minority Quality Forum, today released the following statement regarding Medicare Today’s Medicare Part D Satisfaction Survey.

“Medicare Today’s survey results, which were released on September 19, show that 95 percent of African Americans and 94 percent of Hispanics are satisfied with their Medicare Part D coverage. The fact that we are seeing such high and consistent satisfaction rates with these under-served populations is incredibly promising. All Americans deserve the chance at longer, healthier lives. The Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Benefit is an essential component of that promise.”

“As we approach the 10th anniversary of the signing of the landmark Medicare Part D legislation, we are heartened by this evidence that the Part D Prescription Drug Benefit is achieving what Congress envisioned a decade ago — providing essential and affordable prescription medication coverage to seniors who need it. We are also mindful of the reality that we must protect this extraordinary asset while we continue to harness the economic and political resources necessary to build a health services research, financing and delivery infrastructure that is worthy of the investment of Americans of all ages, ethnicities and financial means.“
